Players, coaches miss training

LAHORE, April 29: Captain Mohammad Nadeem, Sohail Abbas, Mohammad Waseem and Ahmad Alam missed the first day of the national training camp which started without coaches.

The camp has been set up to pick up a Pakistan team for the two tournaments to be held in Australia from May 29 to June 8.

Camp-commandant Shahid Hamid Jafry who alone supervised the training on Tuesday with 46 probables out of 52 reported, said that he had no knowledge about the missing of Nadeem, Sohail and Wasim. But the goalkeeper Ahmad was in Malaysia with the permission of the PHF.

To a question, Shahid said that he had no information about three players so far and would report the top official of the PHF about the missing players.

When contacted Brig. Mussaratullah Khan admitted that he had no knowledge about the whereabouts of three players.

The secretary said that he could not confirm whether the players were in the country or out of the country. “To take the first step, the federation has advised the respective departments of the three players to inform us about the reasons why their players had not joined the training camp.”

“Yes! I also saw both Wasim and Sohail playing for Wapda in the inter-unit championship” he said.

When asked has the players not challenged the authority of PHF by missing the training camp, the secretary said “We are here to meet the challenges.

 The PHF disciplinary committee headed by Brig. Khalid Sajjad Khokhar will conduct the inquiry after receiving a reply from the departments of the players,” he said.

The other probables missing were Asim Chohan and Aamir Saleem. Aamir, it was also learnt is playing in England.
