Superb knock by Sabir

KARACHI, April 29: A superb knock of 90 by opener Agha Sabir steered Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) to a crushing 176-run victory over Hinopak Motors in the 12th KCCA Inter-firm cricket tournament match on Monday.

The left-handed Sabir smashed eight fours and one six to help KESC pile up 248 for five in their 40 overs. Tariq Haroon also excelled with 63, hitting six fours.

Hinopak, in reply, were bowled out fir just 72 in 22.1 overs with off-spinner Irfanuddin and paceman Sharif Asadullah bagging three wickets each.

In another match, Karachi Port Trust (KPT) defeated Wackenhut Security by eight wickets.

Ariz Kamal gave a fine all-round display by picking up three wickets for 31 runs and then hitting an unbeaten 57 with five boundaries.

Summarised scores:

KESC beat Hinopak by 176 runs.

KESC 248-5 in 40 overs (Agha Sabir 90, Tariq Haroon 63; Arif Mahmood 27, Amin-ur-Rehman 22; Athar Hussain 2-66);

HINOPAK MOTORS 72 in 22.1 overs (Fazil Khan 23; Irfanuddin 3-9, Sharif Asadullah 3-19, Owais Athar 2-22).

KPT beat Wackenhut Security by eight wickets.

WACKENHUT SECURITY 161-9 in 40 overs (Yasir Hussain 27 not out, Rizwan Umar 25; Mohammad Hasnain 4-38, Ariz Kamal 3-31);

KPT 162-2 in 28.1 overs (Fahadullah 81, Ariz Kamal 57 not out).
