Naib Nazims form forum

ABBOTTABAD, April 29: Barrister Mohammad Javed Abbasi and Atta-ur-Rehman,  advocate were elected chairman and  general secretary of newly-formed “Naib Nazims of NWFP Forum” in the meeting of Naib Nazims of all 24 districts of NWFP on Sunday.

The speaker of NWFP assembly Bakht Jehan Khan presided over the meeting.

Participants discussed in length the problems faced by the Naib Nazims who are running the district councils as conveyers. They demanded full-fledged implementation of the local govt ordinance so that the system can deliver the goods to the common man.

It was pointed out by the participants that there was no tussle between local governments and provincial or federal government. It was said that with the passage of time, system was getting its roots and public was getting its problems solved at their doorsteps.

They also demanded honorariums for the women, minority and labour councillors. It was decided to hold training workshops for the members of monitoring committees.

Other office bearers who were elected were: Chairman of executive committee, Dr Iqbal Hussain (Peshawar), members Ahmed Shah Bacha (Malakand), Malik Asim Khattak (Karak), Nisar Khan Wardug (Upper Dir), Arifullah Khan (Lucky Murwat), Haji Ibrahim Khan (Charsadda).

Speaker of the NWFP assembly Bakht Jehan Khan was named as patron of the forum.
