KASUR, April 28: Union council Nazims Mian Arif, Mehar Latif and Mian Rafi have alleged that the officials of food department are not providing gunny bags to the farmers as a result of which their harvested wheat could be damaged.

In a written statement issued on Monday, they alleged that if any farmer asked for gunny bags, the food officials demanded bribe from them.

They said if a strict action was not taken against the corrupt officials, they would observe strike.

Meanwhile, provincial Finance Minister Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Dareshak inaugurated wheat harvesting in Bhagokey Arayian village here on Sunday.

The minister told newsmen that the government was trying its utmost to solve the problems of farmers. He assured farmers that the Punjab government would provide more facilitates to them to make the country self-sufficient.

Tehsil Nazim Malik Rashid Khan demanded relief for the farmers living in the villages along border with India as landmines and firing by the enemy troops destroyed their crops.
