SUKKUR, April 27: A fire, which broke out on Sunday in the Shahbaz air base in Jacobabad, was controlled within half an hour by the fire fighting squad deputed there, police officials said.

The police said it had received information about the fire at about 10:20am, according to which a wide area covered by dry bushes within the perimeter of the Shahbaz air base, had caught fire.

Flames and clouds of smoke could be seen from Jacobabad.No loss of life and property was reported.

An unofficial source said that the fire may have been caused by an unextinguished cigarette in the dry bushes.
