Sattar slams equaliser

LAHORE, April 27: Abdul Sattar’s last-gasp goal helped National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) hold PIA 2-2 in the 46th national football championship at Jinnah Sports Stadium, Bannu on Sunday.

According to information available here, PIA got off to a fine start taking 2-0 lead. But the bankers equalised before the end of the regulation time.

Javed Nawaz put PIA 1-0 ahead in the 32nd minute. Shahid Ismail doubled the lead converting a penalty kick in the 55th minute.

NBP’s Akhtar Rasool reduced the margin 2-1 in the 78th minute before Sattar slammed the equaliser in the dying moments.

Kaleem Akhtar scored the match-winner in the 38th minute to help Railways beat NWFP Greens 1-0.

Monday’s fixtures: NWFP Reds v SSGC; Police v Balochistan Reds.
