LAHORE, April 27: Federal Health Minister Muhammad Naseer Khan has said that the government will not allow increase in prices of medicines.

Speaking at a seminar on ‘Diabetes mellitus’ held at Alhamra here on Sunday, he said the government would ensure that prices of medicines must not go beyond the purchasing power of an ordinary citizen.

The government is fully aware of its responsibilities, he said, adding it would ensure to keep the prices of medicines within the reach of the common man.

Terming diseases the worst enemies of mankind, the minister emphasized the need for launching a crusade against poverty, hunger, illiteracy and diseases. He called for collective efforts at national and international levels to win the war against diseases.

The minister urged diabetics to adopt a healthy life style, and measures to control the disease. He said that the diabetics could live a normal life by consistently keeping in touch with their doctors and developing a healthy life style.

On the occasion, doctors and specialists urged the people to use diet having normal calories and other preventive measures to avoid the disease.—APP
