Indian talk offer hailed

KOTLI, April 27: National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain has said that Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s offer to Pakistan is a positive step to promote peaceful atmosphere for holding talks between the two countries.

He said that Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiris and UN resolutions.

Speaking at a gathering at Captain Nattha Khan Volleyball Tournament held at Sensa, the NA speaker made it clear that the Kashmir struggle was an indigenous movement launched by Kashmiris and that Pakistan was not sponsoring it.

Islamabad was supporting the Kashmir cause diplomatically, politically and morally, he added.

He said: “Kashmir issue is a life and death problem for Pakistan and the government of Pakistan would not compromise on this issue.”

The speaker said that Pakistan had always remained ready for holding talks with India on all burning issues including the core issue of Kashmir.—APP
