BADIN, April 26: The provincial minister for irrigation and power, Pir Sadruddin Shah Rashidi, has said that the government was determined to provide water to the tail-end growers and directed the irrigation officials to provide them water according to their share in Badin district.
Addressing a public gathering at the Thari village, Matli Taluka, on Friday, the minister said there was no shortage of irrigation water in Badin district; however, mismanagement and confrontation between the Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority (SIDA) and the irrigation department had complicated the issue.
He warned that he would conduct a surprise visit of the canals in Badin district within 15 days, and any official found not providing water to the tail-enders would be dismissed from service.
He issued directives to the DCO and DPO to provide help to the irrigation officials in taking action against water thieves.
