13 teachers for 1,000 girls

By Our Correspondent

SADIQABAD, April 26: The principal of the Government Girls High School, Firoza, urged the education department high-ups to recruit more teachers and build new classrooms.

Principal Mrs Nargis Chaudhry told newsmen on Friday that only 13 teachers were available for more than 1,000 students. The total strength sanctioned was 19, she added.

She said six posts of secondary and higher secondary school teachers and nine subject specialists were also lying vacant since long. Subject specialists in chemistry, biology, mathematics and physical education were needed to impart education on the students.

Mrs Chaudhry said even there was no sweeper posted in the school.

She said there were only 14 classrooms in the school. She urged the authorities concerned to build 10 more rooms to accommodate the students.

The government has not yet provided computers to the school despite the fact that the computer education has assumed paramount importance in the modern-day world.
