KARACHI, April 26: The dead body of an engineer was found in his apartment in Gulistan-i-Johar on Saturday.
The body of Ali Nawaz Shah, 40, an engineer in a gas company and resident of Rabia City Apartments, was found with stab wounds, police said.
“The victim was repeatedly stabbed”, said a police official and added that the victim’s brother Ali Raza Shah came from Hyderabad and found the body of his brother lying in a pool of blood. He informed the police who reached the spot and shifted the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy.
Police said that Nawaz, having been posted to Karachi, lived alone in his apartment as his wife and children lived in Hyderabad. His brothers frequently visited him. The police believe the motive behind the killing might be personal enmity. However, they have not yet found any clue to the suspects.
ACCIDENT: Three people including a boy died in different road accidents on Saturday.
An ten-year-old boy was crushed to death by a water tanker in SITE.
Police said a speeding water tanker hit a boy identified as Muslim Shah, near Ghani Chowrangi in SITE. The boy, a student of class III, lived in the nearby Labour Colony — and came on the street while playing some game. The driver escaped leaving behind his water tanker (QAD-9945), which was impounded by the police.
The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy, and later handed over to the boy’s family. The tragic death caused a wave of anger in the colony with people demanding constant check on reckless driving.
In another accident, a donkey-cart driver died on Super Highway after he was hit by an unknown vehicle.
The police said an unknown vehicle hit Juma Baloch, 26, killing him on the spot. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.
A man died in a hit-and-run accident on the Hub River Road in the Mochko police limits. His body was shifted to a hospital for autopsy. His identity could not be established immediately.
HOLDUPS: Two bandits intercepted Sabir Qayyum in Clifton at gunpoint and robbed him of cash, a wristwatch and a mobile telephone.
Robbers intercepted Hameeda Bibi in Azizabad and deprived her of four gold bangles.
Bandits intercepted Farooq Azam in North Nazimabad at gunpoint in the limits of the Taimuria police and made off with his cash and mobile phone.
Burglars broke into the shop of Abdul Shakoor in the Kalri police limits in Lyari and made off phone sets.
