PML-N leader booked in another case after acquittal
RAWALPINDI, April 25: The Islamabad police booked former MPA Chaudhry Tanvir on charges of occupying a piece of land in the jurisdiction of Sihala police station after the accountability court number II acquitted him of corruption charges in assets reference on Friday.
The prosecution failed to prove charges against the accused in the reference.
Judge Mohammad Mansur Ali Khan of the accountability court acquitted the PML-N leader after hearing the arguments of the lawyers on the acquittal application filed under Section 265-k of the CrPC. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed the assets reference against the accused in April 2001, while he was indicted in February 2002.
In the new case, Dr Khalid Mehmood of the Holy Family Hospital and a resident of 43 Race Course lodged an FIR with the Sihala police saying that he owned 24 Kanals near Swan Camp which was occupied by Kareem Bukhsh through fake documents.
He said last Saturday Chaudhry Tanveer, Kareem Bukhsh, Adil, Malik Jehangir and Haji Amjad armed with a Kalashnikov and a 30- bore pistol attempted to occupy his land despite a stay order by the court.
Dr Mehmood alleged that when he and his colleague Ibrar Shah reached the scene and tried to stopped them, Ch Tanveer threatened them with dire consequences. Sihala police have registered an FIR against the ex-MPA, who is still at large.
