HEC revises rules for documents’ attestation

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, April 25: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has revised rules for attestation of degree, diplomas and certificates of those people, who want to visit foreign countries for studies and employment purposes.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, now the persons desirous of getting their educational documents attested must apply on a prescribed form.

Only degrees issued by chartered Pakistani universities in public and private sectors, and certificates related to these degrees — transcripts, provisional certificates and detailed marks certificates — would be attested, it added.

The detailed marks certificates will be attested after producing a verification letter from the controller of examinations of concerned university, the statement said.

An individual seeking attestation will have to present the required documents in person or through an authorized person. An amount of Rs200 will be charged for attestation of a degree/sanad/certificate, while Rs100 for attestation of each copy.

Meanwhile, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved a project for establishment of computer-based learning laboratories at College of Home Economics, University of Peshawar, at a cost of about Rs12 million.

According to a press release, the project approved in the Department Development Working Party (DDWP) held recently at HEC campus in Islamabad would be completed in a period of 12 months.

The main objective of the project is to provide an effective system and facility for computer-based learning of home economics courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students of the college.

Latest information and current knowledge about the multidimensional courses being taught in international universities would also be launched through the project.

The project would bring the departments of the college on a par with the technological advancement made in the areas of home economics e.g. in nutrition, textiles, microbiology, design/photo technology, commercial arts and e-commerce for marketing purposes.

The computer-based education to 500 female students per annum of various levels will also be provided through the project.

The College of Home Economics is the only college in the North Western Frontier Province offering home economics courses at graduate and post-graduate levels.
