Hesco employees observe strike

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, April 24: Clerical and operational staff of Hesco, Khairpur division, observed complete strike on Thursday against the alleged attacks on them while on duty at different places.

At all four sub-divisions — Luqman, Khairpur, Priyaloi, and Pir Jo Goth — besides the revenue office, Hesco, and the executive engineer, operations, the staff observed strike.

The strike was observed on the call of the Hydro Electric Central Labour Union and Labour Action Committee against the alleged attacks on the staff while on duty at different places.

The clerical and line operational staff from all the sub-divisions gathered at the Power House, Khairpur, and took out a procession, which was led by Wali Mohammad Leghari, Mohammad Urs Shaikh, and Ghulam Hussain Phulpoto. They marched through Katchehry Road, Mall Road, and DCO Office Road.

The protesters carrying banners and placards raised slogans against Hesco officials. They demanded that protection be provided to them as they were being beaten up.

They presented their demands to the DCO and district Nazim, Nafisa Shah, who heard their grievances.

CONSUMERS: Meanwhile, the consumers who visited various Hesco centres for complaints and correction of their bills, failed to get their grievances resolved due to the strike.

PROTEST HELD: The growers and power consumers too held a protest demonstration at Nara Chondiko and Tajal on Thursday against Hesco.

They complained that they were suffering due to the continuous load-shedding which had paralyzed their life. The growers complained that the Hesco staff was demanding wheat bags from them.
