NICOSIA, April 24: Cyprus’s tense ceasefire line appeared to be crumbling on Thursday as thousands of people surged across the border to visit places that have been off limits to them for nearly 30 years.
Long queues formed on either side of the checkpoint in Nicosia, a day after restrictions on north-south crossings were lifted for the first time since the Mediterranean island was partitioned in 1974.
