Training camp gets under way

LAHORE, April 23: The national cricket training camp to finalise Pakistan team for the next month Sri Lankan tour started at Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

Out of 21 players 16 reported at the camp on the opening day. Faisal Iqbal, Yasir Hameed, Shoaib Malik and Umar Gul were scheduled to join the camp on Thursday while Abdul Razzaq is in England where he is playing for Middlesex in the county championship.

Pakistan team manager Haroon Rasheed said that Umar,  Yasir, Faisal and Shoaib were absent on Wednesday since they had to attend a reception for their department PIA in Karachi.

Haroon said that the camp would continue till May 1 while the team  will leave for Sri Lanka on May 5.
