ISLAMABAD, April 23: The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked DIG Sheikhupura to make all out efforts to recover a girl student, who had allegedly been abducted.

The apex court had registered a human rights case on the complaint of Mohammad Mustafa, a resident of Sheikhupura.

The complainant had alleged that his daughter, Ambreen Mustafa, was abducted by Mohammad Saleem, alias Babar, and Khalil Ahmad, on September 11, 2002, when she was on her way to college.

He also alleged that he had reported the matter to police who did not arrest the accused and, in fact, protected them.

DIG Tariq Saleem informed the court that after the matter came to his notice, he was monitoring the case and had suspended a sub-inspector for declaring one of the accused innocent.

He said the accused were now on the run, and assured the court that he would make all efforts to recover the girl.
