MANSEHRA, April 23: Political heavy weights of the district have agreed to resolve their differences and work for the progress and prosperity of the area.
The traditional rivals in the politics of Mansehra district — former senator Syed Qasim Shah, former MNA and provincial general secretary of the PML-Q Sardar Mohammad Yousaf, PML-Q MPA Wajeeuz Zaman Khan and MPA Zar Gul Khan from the tribal belt of Kala Dhaka — attended a meeting in the new circuit house on Tuesday night to resolve their differences.
The former provincial minister and spokesman for independent group in the NWFP Assembly, Shahzada Mohammad Gustasap Khan, could not turn up due to his preoccupation in the assembly session and was represented by his younger brother Shahzada Mohammad Kashif Khan. Former senator Syed Muzammil Shah was also represented by his son, Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Nazim of Kaghan union council.
More than 50 Nazims, women councillors and other members of the district council attended the meeting.
Later, Syed Qasim Shah, Sardar Mohammad Yousaf, Wajeeuz Zaman Khan and Zar Gul Khan told reporters that they had agreed on one point agenda to work for the progress and prosperity of the district.
They said that they had resolved to put an end to the politics of hatred, tribal and ethnic bias, and discrimination and to promote an atmosphere of unity and fraternity in the district.
They, however, said that they would not tolerate the illegal set-up in the district council headed by the officiating district Nazim, Jehangir Nasim Khan, backed by Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Swati and the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government in the province.
They further said that a session of the district council was being requisitioned for a no-confidence move against the officiating district Nazim.
