PESHAWAR, April 20: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of teachers, students and doctors has announced to hold a rally here on Monday in front of the provincial assembly building.

According to a press release issued here on Sunday, the action committee in a meeting presided over by its President Arbab Khan Afridi has decided to raise voice against all those problems faced by teachers, students and doctors.

The committee has planned to present a charter of demands in front of the provincial assembly during its session so that the government and MPAs would pay heed to the problems.

The body announced that the charter would comprise the demand of abolition of the proposed Model Universities Ordinance and restoration of the four-tier formula for the University of Peshawar.  

Teachers of the university will demand for the immediate recovery of their vehicles stolen from the campus. According to them, the government should stop the interference of the non-government organizations in the educational institutions.

The teachers also demanded that eligible university lecturers should be appointed as vice chancellors of the universities.

They have planned to demand of the government to abolish the contract system in educational institutions and provide a proper service structure for the directors physical education in schools and colleges.

The rule of rotation of principals of the schools should be implemented, they added.

The JAC will also demand of the government to hand over all the technical education institutions to the education department.
