HYDERABAD, April 19: The Administrator Pakistan Cricket Board’s Academic, Col Pervez Ahmed has said that there was abundance of resources in Hyderabad for producing and training cricketers.
Mr.Ahmed was paying visit to different places including the Sindh Sports Board Hostel and other cricket grounds on Saturday as a part of a survey, being conducted by PCB for establishing cricket academies.
Talking to Dawn he said that three cricket grounds were being prepared in Hyderabad under PCB’s Infrastructure Development Programme and added that the Rani Bagh cricket ground was delayed on account of dangerous level of salinity under the ground that had hindered the growth of grass.
He however said that situation with regard to the ground’s outfield was now improving. He further said that he had visited SSB’s hostel and found the environment very conducive for the upbringing and training of young cricketers of interior parts of Sindh.
He said that Rani Bagh cricket ground would be handed over to the cricket association of Hyderabad and if avoided to take it over and the PCB would keep its control with it.
He disclosed that he found the facilities regarding cricket in the city very good and the recommendation in this context would be presented to the PCB.
He said that for the preparation of the third ground which was to be prepared in the city, the required land was not available that’s why no suitable place had been selected. He deplored no institution was forthcoming to offer a proper site for the ground.
