OIC mission to visit LoC

ISLAMABAD, April 19: A fact-finding mission of the Organization of Islamic Conference will visit the Line of Control to meet the victims of Indian firing.

The visit comes in the wake of intensified firing on the civilian population in Azad Kashmir by Indian troops deployed along the LoC in the past few weeks.

A large number of civilians have fallen victim to the heavy artillery and mortar shelling from across the Line of

Control besides incurring heavy losses.

The OIC delegation will visit refugee camps to get a firsthand account of the atrocities being perpetrated by the occupation forces in held Kashmir, forcing the people to seek refuge in Azad Kashmir.

The four-member delegation will call on Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri. It will be briefed about the Kashmir issue.

The delegation will comprise Izzat Karnel Mufti, assistant secretary-general for political affairs; Zamel Saeedi and Mohammad Benadel Jalil, directors in the political department; and Dr Khalid Ibrahim Said, permanent representative of the Organization of Islamic Conference here.—APP
