KARACHI, April 19: A large number of people visited an exhibition organized by the National Association of Business Professional and Agricultural Women (NABPAW), near the NIPA Chowrangi on Saturday evening.

Over 45 stalls, set up at the place, were crowded by an overwhelming majority of women and children. Some seven stalls were set up by the handicapped people and at least three non-governmental organizations had also set up their stalls.

A working woman, Banu Akram, who sets up stalls at various bazaars, including Juma and Mangal Bazaars, etc, and stitches clothes at home, was the chief guest and inaugurated the exhibition.

The NABPAW chief Shameim Kazmi informed Dawn that her organization held this exhibition once a year to assist the women entrepreneurs and provide them a place to market their products and also to establish networks for future.

Embroidery work, handicrafts, candles, clothes, dolls, toys, dress material, artificial flowers, drapery, bed spreads, glass works, oil, pickles, decoration pieces, etc were on display.

Traffic police stall was also drawing crowds, where the police personnel were providing information to the children regarding traffic laws and were urging the people to call on telephone number “915” if they saw men travelling in women’s compartment in public transport and report the vehicle’s number, time of the incident, and place, so that steps could be taken against the transport operators.
