Easy win for PCB Whites

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, April 18: Propelled by half centuries from Mohammad Hafeez, Kamran Akmal and Aamir Sajjad, PCB Whites scored an easy six-wicket victory over PCB Reds in the other trial match at LCCA Ground on Friday.

Set to a target of 200, PCB Whites achieved victory by scoring 203 for four with 10.3 overs to spare.

Stand-in skipper Hafeez hit 51 at run-a-ball with seven fours and one six before Kamran and Sajjad added 93 for the unbroken fifth-wicket partnership. Kamran, the Test wicket-keeper, hammered 54 off as many balls with six hits to the ropes while Sajjad made 55 off 110 balls. He struck five fours.

Earlier, electing to bat first, PCB Reds were curtailed to 199 for seven in 50 overs despite good contributions by left-handed opener Kamran Sajid (55 off 84 balls, seven fours) and former Test wicket-keeper Atiq-uz-Zaman (54 off 63 balls, five fours).

Inzamam-ul-Haq, who was nominated to lead PCB Whites,  did not turn up for the match since he was reportedly in Islamabad to attend a marriage ceremony.

Another notable absentee was current Pakistan vice-captain Yousuf Youhana who was supposed to represent PCB Reds.
