KARACHI: Cable operators warned

KARACHI, April 18: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has directed all cable TV operators to get their licences renewed by May 10.

Issuing a final notice, the PEMRA said on Friday that operating cable TV business without renewal of the licenses was a violation of the PEMRA Ordinance.

Under article-33 of PEMRA Ordinance, a person who does not hold a valid license, commits a violation of the ordinance which is punishable with an imprisonment for a term which may extend to four years, or with fine up to Rs 1 million, or with both, in addition to the confiscation of the equipment used in the commissioning of the act.—APP
