Blix to address UNSC on 22nd

VIENNA, April 16: The chief United Nations weapons inspector, Hans Blix, is to address the UN Security Council on April 22 about the possibility of renewing the search for any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, a UN source told AFP in Vienna.

“Mr Blix is going to report on Tuesday to the Security Council about the potential of the future return of UNMOVIC inspectors to Iraq,” said the source, who asked not to be named.

The experts from the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) left oil-rich Iraq on March 18, two days before US and British troops invaded the country.

Mr Blix told Spanish daily El Pais on April 9 he believed finding banned weapons in Iraq — the pretext for the war — was not the main concern of Washington and London.—AFP
