KARACHI, April 16: Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Muhammed Mahar said on Wednesday that more women would be inducted in the provincial cabinet.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Human Rights Office (HRO) of the Pakistan Muslim League PML-Q, Sindh Women Wing, at the Sea Breeze Plaza.
Realising the need for women’s representation, he said, he inducted a woman member in the cabinet.
Reiterating government’s resolve for solution of women’s problems by empowering women themselves, he cited the election of woman deputy speaker in Sindh and other women representatives in the National and provincial assemblies, as an example.
He appreciated the efforts of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali for promotion of women in the society.
He said since more than half of the country’s population consisted of women so a female could serve women in a better way.
The chief minister said that he would raise voice for women rights at all platforms available and added that his office was ready to solve all genuine problems of the people, particularly of women.
He lauded the efforts of vice-president, PML-Q, Sindh Women Wing, Saeeda Roohi, for setting up an office for human rights and hoped that it would serve the people in a better way.
He said women should be respected in all walks of life according to the teachings of Islam .
He said any political party which came to power should serve the people according to the commitments made to them.
Appreciating the efforts of the chief minister for uplift of women, provincial minister for population and women development, Dr Saeeda Malik, said that her own induction as minister, establishment of women’s directorate, and holding of Katchery by the CM, where he personally solved the problems of women, were a few examples to show CM’s concern for women.—APP
