KARACHI: Arts Council theatre opens in August

KARACHI, April 16: Ninety per cent of the construction work of the Karachi Arts Council theatre project has been completed and the theatre is expected to be inaugurated by President General Pervaiz Musharraf in August.

Secretary of the Karachi Arts Council, Yawar Mehdi said the theatre would be one of the best as the technology used to operate the stage was most advanced.

The theatre has a sitting capacity of 500. Its 800 feet-long stage has an automatic set-changing facility. The theatre is fully air-conditioned with a hi-tech sound-system.

Mr Mehdi observed that only the Al-Hamra theatre had a greater sitting capacity than the KAC theatre, and in other aspects the Karachi theatre was more advanced.—PPI
