LAHORE, April 14: Pakistan Derby 2003 winner Democracy’s racing career came to an abrupt end on Monday when she was declared unfit for racing after her catastrophic run in PIA 777 Super Jet Pakistan Cup at the Lahore Racecourse on Wednesday.
Democracy is said to have developed tendon trouble during the race and she ran a poor fourth. Lahore Race Club veterinary officer examined the filly on Sunday evening and found her fetlocks sprained and inflamed. He ruled her unfit for racing.
Winner of Derby and four other races, Democracy was placed as many times during her short but bright racing career spanning hardly two years. The daughter of Cisco Wells out-of-Let Get Going was the top money spinner during the on-going Lahore Winter Meetings for her owner, who has announced her sudden exit from the turf on Monday.
