Four killed in separate incidents

RAWALPINDI, April 14: Four persons, including two women, were killed in separate incidents in the twin cities here on Monday.

A man was stabbed to death, allegedly by his wife and brother-in-law, in the R.A. Bazaar area, police said on Monday.

Mohammad Ihtasham, a resident of Fazalabad Mohallah, lodged an FIR with the police saying that his brother, Mohammad Amjad, had abducted Rehana Firdous and married her about one-and-a-half years ago.

He said this had annoyed the girl’s parents and her brothers. Despite repeated attempts, the elders of the family failed to resolve the issue. The complainant said gradually the relations between Amjad and his wife began to strain.

He said on Sunday night a boy came to him and told him that his brother Amjad was lying injured along the road. He was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where he died.

The brother of the deceased alleged in his FIR that his brother had been killed by his wife and brother-in-law. The alleged killers are yet to be arrested.

An unidentified woman was killed after being run over by a speeding car on Islamabad Highway on Monday.

The woman was crossing the road when a car (IDJ-6948), coming from Faizabad, knocked her down.

A girl of Kotli Sattian, who was burnt critically, expired in a hospital here on Monday. Shazia, 18, had sustained 90 per cent burn injuries after she was engulfed in fire that erupted while she was burning coals in Kotli Sattian last Wednesday, hospital sources said.

A 25-year-old man was killed after being run over by a tractor in Golra area. Abdul Kabir was travelling on a tractor when he fell on the road was crushed under its wheels.

Meanwhile, a recruiting agent set his house on fire after having a brawl with his wife in Chachi Mohallah, Committee Chowk, on Monday. However, the couple survived, the residents said. Mohammad Anwar,  a recruiting agent, had been in distress for last couple of days due to business difficulties, police said.
