HARIPUR, April 13: The district government will ensure security of female staff assigned with the task of administering polio drops to children during the five-day anti-polio campaign starting from April 14 in Haripur.
This was decided at a meeting of district health board, presided over by Nazim Dr Raja Aamir Zaman.
The meeting dwelt on the vaccination target set for Haripur, achievements and obstacles faced by the staff.
The meeting was apprised of the two identical incidents of harassing and teasing lady health workers by some persons during the last round of ant-polio campaign. The district nazim, took the matter seriously and asked the district police for providing security to the female vaccinators during the campaign. They also asked the lady health workers to contact the nearest police station in case of any such incident.
The meeting was told that during the last round of vaccination some 1,22,000 children were administered polio drops in the 44 union councils of the district.
While this time the target was to vaccinate some 1,30,000 children for which 342 mobile teams of lady health workers and other staff had been constituted.
About the arrangements, EDO (health) Dr Daud told the meeting that vaccination camps would work at the civil hospital Rehana, Khanpur, Haripur BHUs and four bus terminals in the Haripur city from April 14 to 18 to ensure vaccination to the target age.
