SHIKARPUR, April 13: The MMA leaders have said that the government of Pakistan was following a pro-American policy and protecting the interests of the US; hence, it was jeopardizing national interests.

The MMA, Sindh president, Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, MNA, and MPA Maulana Umer Sadiq, while speaking at a press conference at the Madressah Ashrafia on Sunday, said that the MMA was formed to struggle against atrocities being committed by anti-Muslim forces upon Muslims and other non-Muslim people living in Pakistan as well as in other countries.

They said it was the need of the hour that religious leaders should unite on one platform.

They expressed concern over the attitude of senators and MNAs belonging to the treasury benches who avoided to condemn the attack on Iraq.

The MMA leaders demanded of the government of Pakistan to withdraw all agreements made with America regarding their forces’ stay in the country.

The MMA leaders warned that the US wanted to make all Muslim countries and other small states as its colonies and control oil and other natural resources.

Referring to the shortage of water, Maulana Asadullah Bhutto said that the problem was created by the PPP and other regimes through their wrong decisions as made by the Sindh cabinet in 1994.

The MMA leaders rejected the 1994 formula and demanded implementation on the 1991 water accord to ensure their due share to Sindh.

They expressed concern over the adverse law and order situation in the province and accused the Sindh government for its failure in redressing the people’s grievances.

They advised the governor, Sindh, to resign from his office as he had also failed to eliminate extortion by the outlaws in Karachi.

PROTEST HELD: On the call of the MMA, a protest demonstration was held on Sunday against the American aggression in Iraq.

The protesters were led by Maulana Asadullah Bhutto and Maulana Umer Sadiq.

A large number of activists belonging to various religious parties and trade associations also participated in the protest.

The rally was taken out from Madressah Qadria. It stopped at the Lakhi Gate where the MMA leaders gave speeches.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, Maulana Umer Sadiq, Maulana Abdullah Pahore, Maulana Abdul Sattar, and Maulana Mohammad Murad Halejvi condemned the attack on Iraq by the US.

They said that it was an act of aggression committed by the US to dominate small countries.
