Taimur scores hat trick

LAHORE, April 11: Five goals by Taimur Malik, including a hat trick, ably supported by three goals by Atif Yar Tiwana enabled Musa Industries to cruise into the final of the Guard Filters polo tournament, defeating Green Earth Recycling (GER) 8- 4 1/2 at the Lahore Polo Club on Friday.

Musa Industries will meet SHV Energy in the final to be held on Sunday.

The winners got off to a flying start and led 3- 1/2 at the end the first chukker.

The losers had 1/2 gaol handicap.

Taimur, struck back to back goals while Atif added the a goal.

Musa surged ahead by scoring three more goals in the second chukker to make it 6-1 1/2. Taimur scored two more goals to complete his hat trick scoring his third through a spot penalty and later banged home his fourth with a long chase. Atif scored his se-cond also converting a spot penalty.

In the dying minutes of the second chukker, GER for whom all four goals were scored by Shah Shamyl Alam, tried to get back into the game with a four goal rally.

Shamyl scored his first on a field attempt to reduce the margin.

In the second chukker, Shamyl mounted pressure by scoring three goals in a row making it an exciting and competitive match.

The score was 6-4 1/2.

He converted two 30 yard penalties and scored third on a field attempt.

At that stage it seemed

GER would make a comeback but the fourth chukker was totally dominated by Musa Industries who added two more goals to make the tally.

Taimur and Atif scored their remaining one goal each.

Earlier, Artex International defeated 1st Law Company 4-1 to qualify for the third position match which will also be held on Sunday.

Ashfaq scored two goals while Kamran Zaidi and Tanvir Tariq a goal each. Shehzad Aziz scored the solitary goal of the losers.
