SC dismisses appeal for compromise
ISLAMABAD, April 11: The Supreme Court on Friday disapproved a compromise between the father of the deceased and the convict when the wife and four children of the deceased stated before the court that they wanted the killer to be hanged.
Under the Qissas and Diyat law, the legal heirs can pardon the killer in exchange of money.
Iqbal Shah, father of deceased Umat Shah from Shangla Hill had entered into compromise under the Qissas and Diyat law with convict Nisar alias Kala.
The compromise was submitted in the court for approval, but the wife of the accused and her four children stated before the five judges bench that they were not party to the compromise.
The court was informed that the father had pardoned the killer of his son in exchange of 29 acres of land, one house, and Rs28,000 in cash.
Wife of the deceased stated she would not pardon the killer who deprived her children of their father, no matter what amount they wanted to dole out for release.
The court after the statement dismissed the appeal.
