RAWALPINDI, March 9: The Rawalpindi Bar Association boycotted the court proceedings on Wednesday to show solidarity with the people of Iraq.

The lawyers gathered in the bar hall, where their fellows delivered speeches against US and UK invasion of Iraq.

Speaking on the occasion, the bar president, Sheikh Ilyas, said both the so-called champions of democracy had ravaged human values and respect for the poor countries.

He said the Muslim world should show unity among their ranks.

The vice-president, Chaudhry Mubarak, said the US committed war crimes in Afghanistan by killing innocent people. Even journalists were bombed by the coalition forces to create fear among other journalists, he added.

He said the UN role should be strengthen and after Iraq, other Islamic countries could fall victim to the US jingoism.
