LAHORE, April 8: Punjab PML-N secretary-general Khwaja Saad Rafiq has termed his colleague Akram Zaki’s decision to join the PML-Q “political suicide”.

Speaking at a meeting of committees set up to organize the April 10 anti-war rally in Faisalabad, he said that he did not expect the seasoned ex-senator to make such an “undemocratic” and “short-sighted” decision.

Meanwhile, PML-N MNAs Pervaiz Malik and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq have urged the government to give in on the LFO issue if it wants rapprochement with the Opposition.

In a press statement, they feared that political instability and lack of popular leadership might damage the national security and sovereignty.

They demanded that the government should remove hurdles in the way of the return of Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto for the sake of national cohesion and political harmony.

The party will set up a camp at Qainchi Amarsadhu on the Feroz-pur Road on Wednesday (today) to protest against the US-British war on Iraq. — Staff Reporter
