ABBOTTABAD, April 8: Information Minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmed has said that if someone does not like the Legal Framework Order then courts are there to challenge it. The LFO, he said, could also be rejected or amended in the assembly if the majority opposed it.
Speaking at a reception organized by a local daily on Tuesday, the minister said the government had come out of early crisis and was now sailing smoothly. After the settlement of the Iraq issue, he said, some of the major national issues would be decided for the development of the country.
He said those talking about Pakistan as the next likely target of the United States were living in fool’s paradise, and emphasized the need for unity among all the Muslim countries.
About the role of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, he said they had no direct role in national affairs and their presence was only to keep good relations with other countries. He said the FBI personnel were allowed in the country to counter Indian attempts for getting Pakistan declared a terrorist country.
Referring to the local government system, the minister said that elected members of district councils as well as assemblies should respect each other and if there were any misunderstanding it should be removed.
He said a PID office would shortly be opened in Abbottabad.
