Loar takes golf title


BANGKOK, April 6: American Edward Loar shot a final round of 69 to win the Thailand Open and his first professional title by five strokes on Sunday.

The 25-year-old former Walker Cup player, who turned professional in 2000, finished on a 19-under-par total of 269 at the Krisada City Golf Hills on the outskirts of Bangkok.

Australia’s Jason Dawes, who closed with a 71, took second while Taiwan’s Chen Yuan-chi and Lin Wen-tang shared third place a shot further back.
