Councillor kidnapped, tortured

KASUR, April 6: A labour councillor was kidnapped and tortured on Sunday by eight armed men over an election row in Ladi Illahabad village.

Police said Muhammad Ishaq was present in his outhouse when Muhammad Yousaf alias Yousfi along with his seven accomplices came there, beat him up and later took him away with them.

Illahabad police have registered a case.

LOOTED: Three gunmen in police uniform on Sunday looted a bus and deprived passengers of cash, ornaments, wristwatches and other valuables near Shamsabad Beharwal village.

The bus (3104-RIB) coming from Chunian was signalled to stop by robbers in uniform. After boarding the bus, they took the passengers at gunpoint, collected Rs60,000 in cash, ornaments, wristwatches, valuables and escaped.

Chunian police are going into the matter.
