LIVERPOOL, April 4: Noted owner, gambler and businessman JP McManus landed two more big winners at Aintree on Friday before Saturday’s Grand National where he has 10-1 third favourite Youlneverwalkalone.
McManus, who with business partner John Magnier has recently upped his stake in Manchester United, joined in the general gamble in the first race on Master Tern who obliged at 5-1 under jockey Tony Dobbin, riding for trainer Jonjo O’Neill.
Two hours later McManus was back in the winner’s enclosure after betting just “party money” on 12-1 shot Clan Royal, the mount of Liam Cooper, also riding for O’Neill.
On Thursday, McManus had also won the main feature race with French-trained First Gold.—Reuters
