HYDERABAD, April 4: The general body meeting of the Sindh Agriculture University Teachers Association held here on Thursday expressed solidarity with the Federation of All-Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association in its struggle against the Model University Ordinance.

Participants of the meeting said that the ordinance had not only been rejected by the teachers but by other segments of the society.

Prof Ali Nawaz Leghari presided over the meeting.

The meeting criticized the university’s vice chancellor, Dr Bashir Ahmed Chandio, and called upon the chancellor of the university and the Sindh governor to take serious notice of the situation.

The meeting expressed grave concern over the prevailing situation in the campus and observed that three of the university’s faculties were being run without deans and called on the vice chancellor to resolve this problem.

It demanded of the authorities to remove of the director of information technology as his appointment had been made in violation of all rules and regulations.

The meeting pointed out that the incumbent director was a professor of irrigation and had no IT qualification.

It authorised the executive council of the association to hold a discuss with the vice chancellor and apprise him of the problems being faced by the academic staff.

If the dialogue failed, participants of the meeting resolved, then the council may decide upon further line of action to safeguard the legitimate interests of the university and the staff.

FISH FARM: A model fish farm will be developed on the land owned by the University of Sindh to provide better facilities to the students.
