KARACHI: Nazim visits uplift projects


KARACHI, April 4: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan on Thursday directed early completion of the commerce degree college for women, the mono-technical institute Malir and the mono-technical institute Asoo Goth, so that admissions for the next session could start.

During his visit to Malir Town, he observed the various ongoing development projects and directed the concerned authorities to complete them at a faster pace.

The Nazim was informed that Rs18 million were being spent on the construction of the commerce college for women, where the work would be completed by June and the classes for the next session would start by September.

The Nazim was further informed that Rs71 million were being spent on the mono-technical institute in Malir. The construction work of the institute would be completed by December 2004; however, the administration block and classrooms would be complete by June 30.

The Nazim was told that classes would start at the Asoo Goth institute from June 2003 and A 36-bed hospital was being constructed at a cost of Rs13 million, it would start working soon.

The Nazim also visited the Malir Maternity Home and was surprised to know that the maternity home had no doctor, though 36 beds and other necessary equipment were available.

He checked the attendance and stock registers and medicines given to patients.

The Nazim was informed that there were five maternity homes and four dispensaries in Malir, out of which five units were working without doctors.

The city Nazim assured that doctors would be provided to the hospital.—PPI
