GUJRANWALA, April 3: A Naib Nazim shot dead his father and injured his brother seriously while another of his brothers shot dead killer’s wife over a property dispute in Sardar Colony here on Thursday.
Nasir Butt, the Naib Nazim of Union Council No 36/75, wanted to live separate from his family members. He asked his father Ata Muhammad to give him his share of property, but he refused. Falling into a rage, he opened fire on his father, killing him on the spot. He also shot at and injured his brother Muhammad Saleem Butt when he tried to rescue his father. He was rushed to the local DHQ Hospital where his condition was stated to be serious.
Meanwhile, Asif Butt, another brother of the accused, became infuriated when he saw the killing of his father and injuring of his brother. He rushed to the house of his brother Nasir Butt and shot dead his wife Robina in retaliation. Later, he escaped from the scene.
Police have registered a case and are investigating.
VISIT: A noted scientist and prime minister special advisor, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, on Thursday paid a visit to Rachna Engineering College, Wazirabad.
He took a round of various classes and reviewed the institute’s curriculum system. He also visited the laboratory and computer rooms. Dr Qadeer announced a special grant of Rs50,000 and 25 computers for the college.
The college principal gave him briefing about the curriculum activities. The district coordinating officer and other senior officers also accompanied him.
Later, Dr Qadeer also visited the industrial exhibition at Gulshan Iqbal park on the GT Road and took keen interest in various products of made in Gujranwala.
The local chamber of commerce and industry president, Khawaja Tahir Hassan, gave him briefing about the products.
