HYDERABAD, April 2: Sindh Minister Imtiaz Shaikh has said there will be no compromise on rights of Sindh and the government is committed to resolve problems of the province.

He was talking to writers, intellectuals, and columnists at a reception hosted by Ebadullah Rashidi in Jamshoro on Monday.

He said the main issues confronting Sindh were the water accord and the NFC Award which needed to be resolved. Killings of people on the pretext of Karo-kari were on the rise and the custom had to be abolished, he further said.

Mr Shaikh called upon intellectuals to give suggestions to resolve the issues.

He said the government was trying to develop consensus with the opposition in the National Assembly to get these issues resolved unanimously.

He said the Jirga system should be limited to resolve disputes of civil nature.

Speaking on the occasion, ISRA University Vice-Chancellor Dr Asadullah Qazi called for judicious distribution of water.

Columnist Ghulam Nabi Mughal said the issue of the Thal canal should be resolved according to the 1991 Water Accord.
