Rangers deployed as Kashmor mourns carnage

JACOBABAD, April 1: Following the Monday’s massacre, rangers have been deployed in Kashmor which remained closed on Tuesday to mourn the deaths of the victims.

Over a dozen pickets of rangers have been established in Kashmor town and adjoining areas. Ten platoons of the Frontier Constabulary have also reached in the area where they will be deployed.

The IG, Sindh police, Kamal Shah, also arrived in the town and held a meeting with its residents, including the representatives of the local Hindu community.

He told the citizens that a team, comprising DIGs Bachal Sangri and Ramzan Channa and DPOs Din Mohammad Baloch and Ismail Rind, had been formed to investigate the gruesome incident.

Earlier, the IG and other high officials of the police, with the local people and relatives of the victims, attended the funerals of the deceased.

Meanwhile, the Jamaat-i-Islami has given a strike call for Wednesday to protest against the killings and police failure to protect the lives of people and arrest the culprits.

APP adds: The IG suspended the DPO of Jacobabad, Agha Tahir, and the TPO, Kashmor.

The staff on duty at the Kashmor police station on Monday was placed under suspension and the IGP ordered registration of an FIR against them for negligence in duty.

Fourteen people were killed, 18 others injured and eight citizens taken hostage by a band of unidentified assailants in Kashmor on Monday.
