PESHAWAR, March 28: One person was killed and 12 others were wounded in an exchange of fire between the tribal Khasadar force and two alleged kidnappers in the Bara Bazar of Khyber Agency here on Thursday.

The Khasadar force also arrested Hussain Akbar, an accomplice of Abdul Wali and handed him over to the CIA police.

According to reports, a Khasadar patrol party came across Abdul Wali and Akbar, alleged kidnappers of Sholber area of Afridis at a hotel in Bara Bazar. They tried to escape but were given a good chase by the Khasadar.

According to the political administration, both kidnappers opened fire on three Khasadars, Sherullah, Salim and Awal Mohammad and wounded them. One of the kidnappers, Abdul WAli, was shot in the leg who later died in the hospital.

He fired indiscriminately on the Khasadars, and wounded Shah Wali, Roohullah, Sharif, Hiya Gul, Shahmeen and Imtiaz Gul, all passers-by. They were admitted to the Dogra Hospital in Bara.

After the shootout, the political administration called in a strong contingent of the militia force and Khasadars, and started an operation in the area. They demolished a number of criminals’ dens and are looking for the bad guys.
