SARGODHA, March 27: A sugar mill was deprived of Rs4.5 million near Shahpur on Wednesday night.

According to the FIR lodged with the Shahpur police, some 10 armed men overpowered the gunman of Yousaf Sugar Mills, entered the cashier’s office and looted Rs4.5 million. The money was to be paid to cane growers, the management told the police.

However, the local cane growers alleged that the mill had been defaulting on payments due to them since long, and the management had staged a “drama” to evade liability.

The investigating officer told this reporter that the police would give due weight to the allegation.

TWO KILLED: Two men were killed by unknown people in different places on Wednesday night.

Sultan Ahmed was strangulated in Miani and Mian Ranjha Mohammad Mumtaz shot dead in Thati. Bhalwal police have registered separate cases in this regard.
