123 teachers sacked

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, March 23: The Balochistan government has sacked 123 schoolteachers with immediate effect after they were found to have produced fake educational documents for getting job, official sources said.

Secretary Education, Balochistan, Munir Ahmed Badani, has issued the termination orders of these teachers, and asked the Directorate of Education Schools and district education officers to register FIR against these teachers with police for further legal action.

“We have terminated the services of 123 schoolteachers with immediate effect,” official sources told this correspondent.

The Directorate of Education Schools had constituted a probe committee in November 2002 after receiving complaints regarding recruitment of schoolteachers on fake documents.

The committee scrutinized the service books and other documents and found educational degrees of a large number of teachers fake. It recommended action against 123 serving teachers.

“Legal action would also be taken against these teachers,” official sources told this correspondent, and added that action would also be taken against officials found involved in appointing these teachers despite knowing about their fake documents.
