KARACHI, March 12: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that we can benefit from the blessings of Islam by ensuring unity among ourselves.

“We will have to make accelerated efforts for maintenance of law and order and leading the province and the country towards the path of development and prosperity.”

The governor was talking to a delegation of Muslim Muttahida Mahaz, led by Maulana Tanvirul Haq Thanvi, who called on him at the Governor’s House on Wednesday.

City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, DCO Mir Hussain Ali and DIG (operations) Tariq Jamil were also present.

The delegation comprised Maulana Mohammed Yousuf Memon, Allama Mohammed Yousuf Mirza, Maulana Mahmood Siddiqi and Hafiz Aziz.

Dr Ibad said that the government attached due respect to ulema and religious scholars, and hoped that they would play their due role in promotion of positive traditions, unity and cohesion in society.

“We all collectively will have to thwart the nefarious designs of those involved in acts of terrorism and sabotage,” he remarked.

He made it clear that the efforts being made for establishing a better environment during Muharram would continue in the future. —APP
