ISLAMABAD, March 11: The government is likely to establish an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) at Pindi Bhatian to enhance exports from these areas.

A senior official in the commerce ministry said on Tuesday that the proposal was under consideration following the demand made by exporters particularly of the textile sector.

According to the official, the proposal was sent to the relevant stakeholders for seeking their comments and suggestions to finalize the establishment of the EPZ at Pindi Bhatian, located near Faisalabad.

Following the feedback from the stakeholders, the official said that a summary would be sent to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the federal cabinet for approval.
