Blair asked to help avert war

LONDON, March 8: A high-powered British Muslims delegation took up Iraq crisis, Palestine and Kashmir issues during its meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair here on Thursday and urged him to resolve these issues through peaceful means.

The delegation, comprising leaders of many British Muslim organizations, met Mr Blair at 10-Downing and appealed to him to avert war on Iraq.

They urged him to work for the implementation of UN resolutions on Palestine and Kashmir, Secretary General of Muslim Council of Britain, Iqbal Sacranie, told APP on Friday.

Mr Scranie said the delegation told Blair that he could help avert a war on Iraq because America will not go on its own.
